Job Summary:
The Advanced Light Microscopy Core (ALMC) at the University of Colorado Anschutz medical campus is seeking to recruit an entry or intermediate level Research Services Professional (RSP). The candidate will help manage a suite of advanced microscopy systems within the core, which includes training new users, working with users to trouble-shoot problems, assisting user projects, performing routine maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
Entry Level:
Serve as a point of contact to help users trouble-shoot problems.
Assist users in their data collection and data analysis.
Perform routine maintenance of microscopy systems.
Maintain core readiness including ordering and stocking consumables, equipment, and safety materials.
Assist with ensuring compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
Help with ALMC outreach to potential users, including vendor fairs, microscopy workshops, retreats and seminars.
Intermediate Level, all the above and:
Train new users in the operation of microscopy systems.
Independently provide expert technical advice on the operation of microscopy systems.
Propose solutions to technical issues and perform non-routine maintenance of systems, independently or in consultation with senior personnel and/or microscopy service engineers.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
Entry Level:
Bachelors degree in Physics, Engineering, Biology or Physical Sciences, or other related field.
Intermediate Level:
Bachelors degree in Physics, Engineering, Biology or Physical Sciences, or other related field.
One (1) year of professional level experience working with microscopes, including confocal microscopes and/or other advanced microscope systems.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Physics, Engineering, Biology or Physical Sciences, or other related field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience in core and/or collaborative settings.
Prior experience working with microscopes, including confocal microscopes and/or other advanced microscope systems
Experience in core and/or collaborative settings.
Prior research experience.
Knowledge of microscope principles and optics.
Basic knowledge of a programming language (Matlab or Python preferred).
Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
Outstanding customer service skills.
Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology medical terminology.
Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as:
Entry Level: $50,112 – $63,742
Intermediate Level: $54,534 – $69,367
The above hiring range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation depending on the level.
