Murphy & Davidson's textbook covers microscopy thoroughly, from basics through modern techniques. For each topic, they start from the beginning and work slowly but thoroughly through. It's the text the MIcrolist Team most often recommends for beginners, or for those trying to fill in gaps in their knowledge. The excellent colorful figures and lab exercises also make it a great for microscopy teachers.
